Sustainable Holiday in a Holiday Home with PV Power

We want to actively contribute to climate protection. That is why we have equipped the Holiday Home Auszeit with a modern photovoltaic system. On sunny days, the system produces enough clean electricity to cover the majority of the house's energy needs. From the coffee machine in the morning to the washing machine or dishwasher - a significant part of your energy consumption during your holiday comes directly emission-free from the roof. Excess electricity is fed into the public grid in an environmentally friendly manner, which improves the regional electricity mix.

Sustainability shouldn't just feel good, it should also pay off. Thanks to our solar system, we can offer you the electricity consumed at an extremely fair and transparent price of just 0.30€ per kWh - a value that is far below what is charged in many other holiday resorts. You have full control over your utility costs, pay exactly what you consume, and can enjoy your stay with the good feeling of actively making a contribution to reducing CO2 emissions.

Traveling by electric car is the most climate-friendly way to go on holiday. So that you don't have to worry about the charging infrastructure on site, our holiday home has its own 11 kW wallbox directly in the private parking lot. You simply plug in your vehicle in the evening after an excursion and start the day the next morning with a full battery. Billing is straightforward and transparent, along with the rest of the house electricity at the end of your stay. Especially during the day in summer, you preferentially charge your car with the pure solar power of our PV system.

Our commitment to the environment does not end with electricity generation. We pay attention to sustainable concepts in the holiday home: We use energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the house and garden, operate modern and economical household appliances of the highest energy efficiency classes, and offer a well-thought-out system for strict waste separation. The heating is smartly controlled to avoid unnecessary energy loss. In the large 1000m² garden, we leave certain corners natural to offer insects, birds, and hedgehogs a natural habitat.

The car can safely stay parked during your holiday! Right from the front door of our holiday home in Brunsmark, hundreds of kilometers of well-developed cycling and hiking trails open up to you. Cycle along the flat Elbe-Lübeck Canal to Mölln, hike through the Ice Age Hellbachtal valley, or rent a canoe in Ratzeburg to explore the lake landscape silently and emission-free from the water. The region is perfect for slow tourism and intense, mindful nature experiences without engine noise.

Would you like to start your holiday completely without a car? The Mölln and Ratzeburg train stations are excellently connected to the Deutsche Bahn railway network (e.g., direct connections via Lübeck or Lüneburg). From there you can reach the holiday home by local bus or taxi in a few minutes. For excursions in the surrounding area, bicycles or e-bikes can be rented in Mölln, which you can safely store and charge in our lockable shed at the house. Alternatively, traveling in carpools is a great option.

Our holiday home is located on the edge of the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park, which merges seamlessly into the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Schaalsee. These strictly protected natural areas are retreats for rare animal species such as white-tailed eagles, cranes, kingfishers, and otters. We ask our guests to respect these sensitive ecosystems: Please stay on the marked trails, keep dogs on a leash in forests and nature reserves, and take your rubbish with you after a picnic on the lakeshore to preserve the natural landscape for future generations.

A stay in an individually managed holiday home like the 'Auszeit' often has a significantly better carbon footprint compared to large hotel complexes. With us, there is no high energy requirement for constantly air-conditioned lobbies, heated mega-pools, daily towel changes, and large-scale buffets with corresponding food waste. Instead, you cater for yourself, wash towels only when you deem it necessary, buy regional products at the weekly market in Mölln, and benefit directly from locally produced solar power. A real win for you and the environment.
